Cephalonia (Kefalonia) - the greatest treasure on the blue surface of the Ionian Sea. The untamed nature, crystal clear sea, emerald green forests, golden beaches, exciting scenery, carefree atmosphere and the calmness radiating from the locals create the perfect harmony of this island.
Located between the islands of Lefkada, Ithaka and Zakynthos. The capital of the island is Argostoli. The town has small squares decorated with statues. Wide, tree-lined promenades offer seating in tavernas and cafes, narrow, winding streets leading into the hills and a lively harbour.
The island is highly varied and rugged. The east coast of the island is more accessible, while the west is mountainous and steep. Kefalonia is one of the most mountainous islands in the Ionian Sea with the highest mountain, Ainos, measuring 1,628 m. The island also offers areas to explore such as karst caves and underground passages with mineral springs. In summer, it is not only the town and the beaches that are lively. In the evenings you can listen to Greek music in bars and taverns. There are also remote corners where you can enjoy peace and quiet away from the lights and bustle of city life.
Lassi is one of the busier and livelier resorts, stretching along the coast. You could say that it is such a bustling suburb of the capital Argostoli, which can be reached by public transport, by taxi or by a walk of about half an hour. The beaches with fine light sand in and around the resort are among the most beautiful in Greece.
Distance from the airport: Kefalonia (airport) - Lassi 8 km.
The village of Lourdas is situated on a slope descending into the waters of the crystal clear sea. You can relax on the bright sandy pebble beach. Lourdas is popular with hiking enthusiasts. It is a good starting point for excursions into the surrounding area. Lourdas is an ideal place to spend a quiet holiday.
The resort of Skala with its sandy beach and crystal clear sea is located in the south-east of the island. The beach is lined with pine trees that provide pleasant shade in the hot sun. If you get tired of swimming and sunbathing, there is an interesting range of water sports to choose from.
The well-known resort of Lixouri is located on the north-western tip of Paliki and can be found opposite Argostoli, the capital of Kefalonia. Lixouri is suitable for those seeking a quiet holiday. If you are looking for relaxation and rest, it is right for you. The beaches in the area are sandy and one of the most famous is Lepeda beach, which is special because its sand is coloured red.
