The North Aegean Islands are a stone's throw from the coast of Asia Minor, but they remain very far from the busiest Greek islands.
However, they offer a magical mix of natural beauty and rich cultural heritage. On each island you will find fascinating green landscapes, crystal clear waters, beautiful sandy and pebble beaches, traditional villages and a rich history.
The archipelago includes some of the largest Greek islands - Lesvos, Chios, Limnos, Samos, Thassos, Ikaria - as well as many smaller and equally magical islands in the western Aegean Sea - Psara, Oinousses, Samothrace, Fourni, Agios Efstratios, Thymena, Samiopoula.
Despite the fact that some of these islands are very far from Greek mainland, they have become popular destinations thanks to frequent ferry or air connections. And they will all offer you an exciting and unforgettable vacation.
The sea temperature of the North Aegean Islands is usually slightly lower than, for example, Rhodes, where the sea is the warmest.
This is a result of the mixing of cold sea currents flowing from the colder Black Sea with the warmer water of the Aegean Sea.
